Description: Police Officer: An Overview provides a solid background of policing in the U.S. Students will explore all aspects of the police officer from the organized chain of command to ethics and laws to the latest trends and technology. This course provides an inside look to the personal side of policing and presents common challenges that arise in the line of duty and strategies for successful security and safety.
After completing this course, you should be able to:

Comprehend the history and organization of policing
Identify the characteristics of and steps for becoming a good police officer
Identify types of police deviance and their adverse effects
Identify methods of patrolling and crime analysis
Comprehend the laws related to policing
