Beginner Mycology 101

ID : 60561
« back to classes page
The instructor has been an amateur mycologist for the past 40 years, in fact going out to identify mushroom in the Poconos served as her introduction to hiking as well.  This class is designed to enable the participants to identify the major fungus "families" and familiarize them with the basic terminology so they can better understand and enjoy the amazing world of fungi that appears all around us in the Bay Area, every fall and winter.
We will meet at a pre-arranged location in Marin and will car pool up to Salt Point State Park, north of Jenner, for a field trip. It will involve a fairly easy hike of up to five miles. The instructor will have field guide books available and you are also incouraged to bring your own books as well. The best option being, David Aurora's "Mushrooms Demystified".
